About Awards

The event was brilliant. We enjoyed excellent African cuisine, entertaining performances and great speeches. Well done to the event committee for a job executed to perfection.

Why Attend

The African Enterprise Awards were established to celebrate African enterprise in the UK without prejudice. There are several Africans operating in all facets of the UK economy and often times their efforts are not recognised or acknowledged. The African Enterprise Awards are a highly valued symbol of achievement; a coveted possession of the business people, professionals, academics, companies and community leaders who receive an award.

Selection Criteria

Award recipients are selected from among Africans in the UK recommended by business and professional colleagues, peers, relatives and friends. To be eligible for an award, an individual will need to be of African heritage.

Award winners are selected by an independent selection committee. All nominees must be of African origin; however for the select categories, the Panel of Judges may award an individual or company who is not from the UK-African community for contributions that benefit persons of African heritage.

Important Notice

The African Enterprise Awards aims to treat every nomination and nominee with courtesy and respect. In rare circumstances nominations or nominees may be declined or awards withdrawn. The Association for African Owned Enterprises reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to make eligibility decisions including declining nominations, declining any particular nominee or group of nominees, withdrawing or cancelling an award category, cancelling or postponing the African Enterprise Awards ceremony. This also applies to selected recipients and includes the decision to withdraw an award after it has been presented to a recipient.

The AAOE, its members, directors, agents, volunteers, sponsors and affiliates, successors and assigns will not be held liable by any nominee or recipient or their agents, successors or assigns for any decision to exercise the discretion here described in this Important Notice. This Important Notice is in addition to what has been indicated elsewhere in this Call for Nominations, and if there is any conflict between what is said elsewhere in this or any other communication produced by the AAOE regarding the African Enterprise Awards, this Important Notice takes priority. By participating in the selection process, including sending in a nomination, accepting a nomination and accepting an award you are agreeing to the terms of this Important Notice.
